1. Try not to use any chemical fertilizers in your soil. All natural is best.2. Plant your garden like you would normally.
3. Then water around the base of the plants. Don't over water, yet wet it up good. Most important , dont make mud. If the soil gets too wet, just add some peat moss. 4. Make a trench about 2 inches deep.
5. Now place someof your worms in the trench. 6. Your worms will arrive with some pre composted food. Place some food in the trench with the worms.
7. Now cover up the worms with the soil that you took out. Don't pat the soil down .8. Don't blast the water either. Just pour the water easily over the area where you put the worms.9. You will receive the Tracking Number for your order in your email.
10. Once you know your order is on its way, fill a gallon jug with water and set it aside. Shake up the gallon of water from time to time. By shaking up the water, it will release the chlorine gasses in it. Red Wigglers can tolerate tap water. However best to give them your prepared water. Rain water is excellent. Either way it will help them adjust to their new garden. They like wet soil but not a standing water swimming pool.
11. From time to time feed your worms. Take some veggies or other food waste and put it in a plastic bag and pre compost it. Then give it to them. No meat, fish, and surely no spiecy food. Put it in the sun and pre compost it (no meat, no cooked eggs) . And do like above -- just make a spot in the soil and put it there -- cover the food up with soil. 12. Do not try to find the worms. They will find the food.
Why Pre compost? Worms do not use a fork or knife. And they have no teeth. As the food decomposes it turns to slim (bacteria - above) and that is what they eat. Rewards: they will aerate the soil for you and make vermicompost that will feed your plants all season. 13 They like moisture. So watering your plants will not hurt them.
If you want to do something crazy. This summer, give them Watermelon rind. Just turn it upside down and put it in your garden. The Red Wigglers will go crazy!! And Pumpkin in the fall. Your worms will come with pre composed pumpkin for their fist time feeding in your garden. If you have any questions, I am here to help.
